Preventing the spread of West Nile Virus

1. Wear long sleeves and long pants at dusk and dawn peek mosquito biting times.

2. Always wear mosquito repellent when going outside during “Mosquito Season,” Especially farmers irrigating.

3. Make sure all windows and open doors have screens to prevent mosquitoes from going into your home.

4. Try to eliminate breeding sites for mosquitoes by dumping out any unnecessary standing water. If water cannot be changed or dumped out frequently then apply larvacide to prevent mosquito larva from becoming adult mosquitoes.

6. And last but not least always remember to vaccinate your horses in the spring against the virus. If your horse is not vaccinated and contracts the Virus it has a slim chance of a full recovery.
