
Signs that a bird might have West Nile.
Birds will often show signs of neurological distress.
- Loss of coordination
- Head tilt
- Tremors
- Weakness
- Lethargy
Some birds that are infected typically die within 3 weeks due to infection.

Instructions for handling bird.
- If possible just leave the bird where you found it and contact us, however if it’s not possible to leave the bird without damaging the bird (ex: Hungry cat, curious Kids) then follow these steps.
- Wear gloves if possible, if not possible use paper towel to pick the bird up.
- Put bird in plastic bag or bucket, and keep in cool area.
- The sooner you contact us the more accurate the results will be. We will only accept birds found within 24hrs. of death or symptoms of WNV have started to show.
